Words from the West

Spencer Reece, an episcopal priest and a poet who has lived in Spain, Honduras, Connecticut and now Rhode Island, and Matt Daly, creative writing teacher and poet from Wyoming, zoom in together from Wyoming for this reading.

Spencer’s poetry has been richly described by Nobel Laureate Louise Glück as emanating “…a sense of immanence that belongs more commonly to religious passion; it is a great thing to have it again in art.”   Matt is a poet of the natural world, describing the land and the people of the West.

Both visual artists as well as poets, their reading is enriched by conversation about common themes of grace, beauty, loss, and the perspectives that come from observing our own sense of place.
